The NBME is an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides high-quality examinations for the health professions. Protection of the health of the public through state-of-the-art assessment of health professionals is the mission of the NBME, along with a major commitment to research and development in evaluation and measurement. The NBME was founded in 1915 because of the need for a voluntary, nationwide examination that medical licensing authorities could accept as the standard by which to judge candidates for medical licensure. Since that time, it has continued without interruption to provide high-quality examinations for this purpose and has become a model and a resource of international stature in testing methodologies and evaluation in medicine. Although the NBME's mission is centered on assessment of physicians, it encompasses the spectrum of health professionals along the continuum of education, training, and practice and includes research in evaluation as well as development of assessment instruments.

POSITION OVERVIEW TECHNICAL PROJECT MANAGER

The Technical Project Manager will report to the Director of IT PMO and will focus on leading internal projects for the IT Infrastructure & Security team focusing strategic initiatives for the practice. This position will work closely with the PMO to use standardized project management methodologies. In this exciting and highly visible role, you will be responsible for working in a Project Management capacity to oversee multiple projects delivering IT services to internal clients. You will be responsible for leading matrixed resources in the full project life cycle from initiation through close, aligning technology solutions with business requirements, working directly with senior leadership, proactively identifying opportunities, conducting analysis and managing the delivery schedule.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Provide Project Management for small/medium/large projects and or program(s) and maintain Enterprise Project plan and conduct business analysis / technology requirements gathering as needed
  • Provide expertise, communicate and implement Project Lifecycle support for:
    • Timeline management
    • Issue Resolution and escalation
    • Communications & status reporting
    • Change Management
    • Budget/Forecasting
    • Vendor Management
    • Risk Management
    • Stakeholder Management
    • Resource Management
    • Deliverable Management
    • Scope Management
  • Interface with business owners to understand their needs and secure appropriate project buy-in/sign-off throughout Life Cycle
  • Ensure functional and technical solutions are accepted by the appropriate project role prior to development
  • Identify, track, and resolve/escalate project issues and/or risks and track changes / engagement in change management

REQUIREMENTS

Skills and Abilities 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead evaluation of operational needs of project solutions, including seamless integration with existing technologies
  • Excellent ability to grasp technical requirements/issues and issues and translate appropriately for the audience (who may not speak the same technical "language," or may be non-technically oriented)
  • Working knowledge of the Waterfall and Agile project management lifecycle
  • Working knowledge of the change management lifecycle
  • Ability to conduct research into infrastructure issues and products as required
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate the needs of technical peers, technical and user management, business users, vendors, and staff members
  • Knowledge of information technology best practices, organization and operations
  • Fast learner and able to pull together an understanding out of partial information
  • Good communication skills and able to work with a wide range of technical and non-technical staff to gain alignment on requirements and goals. An aptitude for diplomacy a plus
  • Good organizational skills to keep a large number of "moving parts" of a project organized and moving towards completion without requiring a lot of direction from technical leads (freeing them up to solve the technical challenges)
  • Leadership skills

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years' applicable experience as a project manager
  • At least 5 years' experience in network protocols, security, operating systems, and/or infrastructure
  • Experienced in IT Infrastructure, Enterprise Software Solutions, Client, Collaboration, Unified Communications and Cloud Based Technologies
  • Experience with meeting facilitation
  • Experience in developing and maintaining documentation for policies, procedures, and best practices

Education

A Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology Systems, Computer Science, or related field
